Six things that shape your quote
- What you’re taking. A room count is a starting point. Large furniture, specialty items and the overall amount of belongings affect the work involved.
- Where you’re going. Share both addresses with your chosen mover so travel and route requirements can be included.
- When you’re moving. Ask whether flexible dates change availability or the estimate.
- How much help you want. Packing, unpacking, supplies, disassembly and storage can change the scope.
- Getting in and out. Stairs, elevators, parking restrictions and long walks between the truck and your door matter.
- What the quote includes. Clarify travel time, minimum charges, materials, valuation options and potential extra fees.
Compare the same move, not just the totals
Give every mover the same inventory, addresses, dates and service requirements. Then compare the written estimates side by side. Ask what could cause the final amount to change and how any changes are approved.
